Welcome to CBA

We, Karl and Anastasia from The Cat Realm, started this Blog today after we realized that we hadn't slept all night, trying to keep on top of our ever evolving "Blog life".

Don't misunderstand: we LOVE the blogging. But we think it should be done in moderation, not compulsion!

So, let's keep the fun in the blogging but let us also keep our "other" life....(the one with the lizards in it).

We are asking everybody out there to post tips here on how to fight compulsive blogging!

We find setting strict limits helps us the most. We ONLY blog when the Woman is at work and then at night while she's watching TV we prepare our posts for the next day.

My pet human was addicted to all 5 of her blogs... but now she is so busy working she hardly has time for any of them.
Of course my blog is the most important.

Just turn off the computer and slowly walk away. Set a timer and only be online for that period of time.

this is hard...and mama is almost willing to admit that we have a problem. our blogroll is big, and we try to visit and comment on everyone everyday. it takes 2+ hours to get through the list!

it helps if mama has a good book to read, or another project to work on. the problem is that the time that mama would use to develop a new project is spent blogging!

let's get creative with solutions!

Forget it.
There is no help,
there is no cure.

The ONLY thing I've
found that has slowed
down my addiction is
when the cats who employ
me have draped themselves
all over the keyboard and
I have to pause to remove
them before I can continue
blogging. Not all cats are
willing to spend their time
trying to help the servants
with their addiction issues.

Thank you all for your comments.
At least we are not alone!
We will further meditate about this...

Tips? Our mom is looking for tips here. It started innocently enough last summer. Mom was feeling blue and she decided to check out cat blogging because her blogging brother said that there was such a thing and she thought that it would bring her some cheer. It did!

Next she was reading blogs regularly. First she met Kismet, then Skeezix. Then she joined Catster because Skeezix mentioned it, and it was the way to officially join "Frends of Skeezix" (sic) and participate in his birthday party. Then, it was just another step to starting our own blog. Rosie and Cheeto discovered us right away and became our first publicists and it went from there.

Mom started staying up way too late at night. Posting photos was very time-consuming because we only had dial-up at the time. Still, she was addicted. She'd check Skeezix and other blogs briefly from work, but could never post a comment or blog from there because it is expressly forbidden. Besides, her job is rather demanding and she puts in a lot of hours.

She decided to forego the murder shows she used to watch and just blog after her late dinners.

Some days she just has to stay away from the computer at night because she knows she can't just stay on 15 minutes--it always turns into the rest of the night. Sometimes her body just says no as she struggles to keep her eyes open.

She likes checking out new bloggers and welcomes new visitors, but then there's all that many more blogs she's compelled to visit. She marvels at cats like Daisy who seem to have a happy life outside of blogging, yet also seem to find the time to visit every single blog. She wishes she were a better typist and a speedreader.

Sigh.

Man, where can I find a meeting? Daisymae maus is a...binge blogger! Oh my! I must confess...I wake up at 7ish, pull my laptop up from the floor beside my bed, and start reading my news feeder. Then on to my blog roll visits and in the middle if I get inspired, I do a post. Then I go to my other blogs and post there. Then I look for new friends. Then it's midnight. Mao the cat sleeps on my legs the whole time.

I need to go to the Louvre and stare at art. I need to go down to the courtyard and play with Mao. Oh where is my higher power when I need her?

Yes, would love to guest post on CBA. What's one more blog?
